Elizabeth (Betty) Margaret (O’Toole) Brackett, age 88, passed away on June 8, 2018 in Bellevue, Washington.
Elizabeth was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on October 29, 1929. She graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Academy and then sought adventure in the big city working as a ticket agent for KLM/Dutch Airlines in Toronto, Canada, then for United Airlines in Los Angeles. Betty married Carl Vincent Brackett August 8, 1959 and eventually landed in Bellevue, Washington where she and Carl raised three children.
Upon retirement, they moved to Birch Bay, Washington, where they enjoyed life near the ocean, and an occasional winter trip to Maui. Elizabeth traded in her bowling shoes for a deck of cards, taking up Bridge in Birch Bay, while also participating in the neighborhood social club and serving on volunteer projects in the community.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents Honora (McMullin) O’Toole and William Edward O’Toole, brothers Hubert Francis ( Margaret) Murphy and Kenneth (Evelyn) Sproule, and nephews Patrick and David O’Toole, all of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Elizabeth leaves her three children, Sheila Marie (Paul) Coons, Stephen Murray (Lisa) Zura and Gregory Carl (Jacqueline) Butlin, grandchildren Kathryn Elizabeth Helene, Julia Pearson, Emily Anne, Alexandra Karin and Sara-Jane Elizabeth, niece Colleen (O’Toole) Palmer; and nephews Daniel, Robert, Brian, William and Paul O’Toole, as well as step grand and great grandchildren.
